Our last day of term before Easter was a fun one - this was also the day we chose to celebrate the 'Month of the Military Child'!
As a primary school in the heart of a thriving military community, the vast majority of our pupils come from military families, meaning The Month of the Military Child was an event we were proud to promote.
Children across the school spent the day wearing purple (the official colour of the military child), focusing on poems and songs about military children and creating some fantastic dandelion themed artwork. We held a special assembly to demonstrate how the resilience of our pupils ties into our school values.
At the end of the day, children were surprised by a visit from Chris in the 'Operation Ice Cream' van and everyone got to enjoy an ice cream in our garden and playground area. Many thanks to Andrew Malcom, C1 Senior Education Officer with the MOD, who provided children with wrist bands, t-shirts and pencils to help spread the word about The Month of the Military Child, and to Chris Pratt from BFBS for driving 2 hours to give the children their ice cream!
