About Larkhill
There is a very positive climate in the school with the whole staff working as a team towards our shared aims of helping each child fulfil their potential. Planning systems are in place and careful records are kept. There is a full programme of INSET training within the school and all staff are offered opportunities to take advantage of external professional development. The school was one of the first in Wiltshire to have the new format Ofsted inspection which was positive and the key issues identified are being or have already been met. The ethos of the school is a particular strength, with very good relationships between all members of the school community and pupils, who are interested in their work and are well behaved.

Our priorities for school improvement are to continue to raise standards in English, Mathematics and Science in both Key Stages with a view to improving achievement for all pupils. ICT will continued to be developed across all curriculum areas.
Number on Roll and School Organisation
Currently the number on roll is 240 although this will always vary as Larkhill has a high turbulence figure due to our position in the middle of Larkhill Garrison.
This year the class structure stands at one reception class, four classes in KS1 and four in KS2. There are between twenty-five and thirty four children in each class. The teachers are supported by Teaching Assistants and Parent volunteers.
Special Needs
The school employs a specialist Special Needs Teacher (SENCo) and there are several special needs teaching assistants who work alongside the teachers offering 1:1 support to children with particular difficulties. We also have a specialist Speech and Language practitioner who provides individual and group support throughout the week along with specialist behaviour and emotional support for children who require a little extra help. Currently 31% of our children require some kind of specialist SEN support.
