Welcome to Owls Class Page

Spring Term 1 2018

Our new topic to get 2018 off to a great start is 'The Aztecs' so we will be focusing on many aspects of Geography and History. In English, we will be busy describing settings and using our imaginations to write fantasy stories. In Maths, we will be aiming to secure our knowledge and understanding of multiplication and division, fractions, ratio and proportion as well as geometry and the properties of shapes. Science will be fun as we look at teeth and the human body. Maps, atlases and laptops will be needed as we study 'Our Wonderful World' in Geography with a special focus on Mexico. Following on from that we will look at art patterns from around the world in Art. In R.E. we will be learning about Judaism and The Passover.

As we have been learning French since September, then this will continue as Mrs Grafton takes over P.P.A. duties from Mr Ward on Tuesday mornings.

Please make sure that your child has their proper P.E. kit as every week we will do indoor P.E. on Mondays and outdoor P.E. on Fridays this term.

A special bonus for Term 3 is cooking in the kitchen area with Mrs Haines so look out for any tasty morsels that may make it home!

Finally, thank you for supporting your child and the school in all aspects of their learning. We are making a big effort on Reading and recently sent home a list of 100 recommended books that your child should have read throughout Year 3 and Year 4. How many has your child read? Have fun reading together or alongside each other as you race to complete the list!

Best Wishes,

Mr Almond            Owls Class Teacher (Year 4)
