Spring Term 2018
May The Force Be With You!
Our new topic this term, May the Force be with you, covers Forces and magnets in Science, making a moving toy in Design Technology, and learning about Life in the Stone Age in History. The children are looking forward to carrying out lots of practical activities and investigations. It is also Dove's turn to cook! In small groups we will be using the kitchen area to make some healthy snacks to share with the rest of the class. Last week we made mini toad in the holes which proved to be a hit. If you want any of the receipes please ask Mrs Smith or Mrs Ashton.
We will be focusing on pushing reading and are encouraging everyone to read at least 3 times a week at home. Children will receive a raffle ticket if they do as a well as moving their reading owl up the tree. The person with the most reads in one week recieves a trophy to keep on their table.
In class we will be studying Charlotte's Webb by E.B.White, The Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura and Stig of the Dump by Clive King.
P.E in Dove's will be on a Thursday afternoon. If it is dry weather we will be going outside to play hockey.
In maths we will be learning about Time as well as continuing with number skills and times tables. You can help by asking your child to tell the time at home, on different clocks and devices so they become familiar with it. Chidren are allowed to wear watches to school and we would encourage them to so if they have one.
Our class assembly will be on Thursday 8th February at 2:30pm in the Hall. The childre will be sharing some of their favorite things that we have learnt so far this year. We hope to see you there!
Thank you for your continued support, if you have any questions please ask us on the playground or pop in and see us.
